In this study, Orego-Stim helped support egg production parameters throughout the early and mid-laying periods.
Orego-Stim fed hens produced an extra 4 whole eggs per hen, resulting in a return on investment (ROI) of 3.5:1.
COMMERCIAL STUDY DESIGN
A commercial study was undertaken in 2019 in collaboration with a table egg producer in Japan, to evaluate the effect of Orego-Stim Powder (OSP) on hen performance during early and mid-lay. Two groups of ~35,000 Lohmann LSL hens in cages were used in the study: control group (basal diet only) and OSP group (basal diet + 300g/t OSP). Birds were supplemented from 18 weeks of age until 66 weeks of age. Each group were subject to the same environmental and management conditions.
Results
The addition of Orego-Stim to feed resulted in:
- A better start to egg production and higher peak lay compared to the control group and breed standard (Fig. 1).
Maintenance of laying persistency during mid-lay (Fig. 2).
A 4-point improvement in feed conversion ratio (FCR) (Fig. 3).
An extra 4 whole eggs per hen compared to the control group (Fig. 4), resulting in a return on investment (ROI) of 3.5:1.
